Basic Steps With The Coronavirus
We know you’re seeing a lot of emails right now from all kinds of companies, regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
Here’s what you need to know from us.
It’s still cheaper to repair appliances, rather than replace them.
We understand that many people right now, particularly those with weaker immune systems, have concerns about people coming into their home.
But we want you to know that we are taking every precaution possible to help protect you, as the homeowner, and our employees. That includes basic steps like extra cleaning of our equipment, washing hands before working on your appliances, and keeping in-person contact down to a minimum.
If you absolutely must not allow anyone in your home at this time, let us know at 970-773-1000 and we will make alternative arrangements with you!
Coronavirus Update
Speaking of the coronavirus, we want to give you a quick update on what’s happening in the Grand Valley today.
The last report we saw was that there are 11 confirmed cases in Mesa County. We’ve seen the news too, and yes, the government is expecting many more cases to proceed in coming months.
However, St. Mary’s here in Grand Junction is currently not busy at all. We know because we have family members working at St. Mary’s, and they report that the hospital is very slow. This is, of course, in part due to the fact that all elective surgeries have been cancelled for the time being.
Just like anyone, we can’t predict the future. But in this time where a lot of people are afraid for themselves, their families, friends, and the people around them, we think it’s important to not get too ahead of ourselves. There’s a lot of great things happening in the world right now, too. And there’s a lot of preparations being made by hospitals and the government, around the country, to better prepare. At least in Mesa County, we appear to be getting the time we need to prepare for the worst, should that time ever come.
But, some facts to help protect yourself during this time:
- The coronavirus can live on surfaces and soft goods (clothing, bedding, towels, etc.) for up to 9 days. That is substantially longer than the flu virus, for example, which can live on surfaces for only 3 days. The best answer to this is to clean your home regularly. Wipe down all surfaces and major touch points in the home (door handles, faucet handles, keyboards, mouses, etc.).
- Experts are currently suggesting that coronavirus will not phase out with the changing of the seasons, like the flu. Instead, they are predicting that cases of new coronavirus/ COVID-19 infection will continue for some time. Don’t think of coronavirus like a blizzard that will soon pass over. Think of it instead as a winter. We need to do our best to continue cleaning surfaces and contents, and applying disinfectant, continually.
